Photographing Venice

The beautiful Italian city

semi-overcast

Earlier this year my wife and I visited the magical Italian city of Venice. If you have been there you will know it is like no place other on this Earth. The distinct architecture, foods and squares are something to behold. As a semi-pro photographer it was like heaven! I adore European cities with old parts to the cities, and Venice is great because it's all old! There are no skyscrapers, Macdonalds or even cars. It's like it has been untouched for hundreds of years.

It's like every corner you turn you are met with another stunning building with intricate design features. I found myself taking photos of churches, gargoyles, gondolas and quiet city streets. Several memory cards were filled up easily!

From the UK Venice only takes a couple of hours by air and then a short boat ride to the main island. It can be quite expensive once there so it is worth looking at the prices on the menus before ordering. I could easily spend a week there and after a few days you begin to feel the relaxed siesta type life the Italians have. Just sitting in an outdoor cafe in a large square watching the world go by is definitely recommended. Especially if you like taking photographs of typical Italian scenes like I do.

A highly recommended travel destination.

ps. I hope you like my Venice photographs too!
